Charlotte M. Farmer

Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, UL Research Institutes

Dr. Charlotte M. Farmer is senior vice president and chief operating officer for UL Research Institutes. An experienced transformational leader, Farmer guides operations and the development of a global infrastructure to support the organization’s position as a world leader in fundamental and applied safety science research.

Before joining UL Research Institutes, Farmer directed operations at The MITRE Corporation and worked directly with major federal government clients to foster technological innovation.

Farmer graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in chemical engineering from Tennessee Technological University. She holds an M.S. in chemical engineering from the University of Tennessee, an MBA from the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School at Chapel Hill, and a doctor of engineering from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Among many professional honors, Farmer has been named a 2021 Paul Harris Fellow by Rotary International and was included in the Savoy Magazine list of 2020’s Most Influential Black Executives in Corporate America.
