Richard “Dick” Owen has served as a trustee of ULRI’s Board of Trustees since 2010. Mr. Owen brings substantial technical expertise to the Board.

Mr. Owen is a former senior electrical inspector and senior trades coordinator for the City of St. Paul, Minnesota. Over his more than 30-year career in the field, Mr. Owen oversaw field inspections on commercial, industrial, and residential projects throughout St. Paul‘s downtown area.

As a respected member of the electrical-inspection community, Mr. Owen is also a long-standing member of the International Association of Electrical Inspectors. He has served on the IAEI international Board of Directors throughout his career and most recently was the international president of the IAEI and international past president and chairman of the Board of Directors at the junior IAEI.

Mr. Owen has been a member of the Electrical Safety Council at our affiliate, UL Solutions, since 1994. Since that time, he has also held several leadership roles at the National Fire Protection Agency.

He earned an electrical degree from St. Paul College and received electrical apprenticeship training at St. Paul Technical College.
