Education is a top priority for ULRI. We translate our safety science research into education for a variety of stakeholders — from firefighters and built environment professionals to graduate and elementary school students. We concentrate our efforts on providing:
- Continuing education and certification for specialized professions
- Open-access STEM resources for teachers and community educators
- STEM opportunities for students of all ages
Doing so allows us to expand our impact and make the world a safer, more sustainable place.
Continuing Education
We offer continuing education and certification opportunities for specialized professionals on relevant safety topics — from how to fight battery fires or wildfires; to reducing PFAS exposure in the built environment and health protection strategies for WUI fires.

The Office of Research Experiences & Education’s mission is to build the future of safety science through equitable and accessible educational resources, programs, and research for students and educators from elementary to post-graduate degrees and into internships and early career.
We offer free educational resources for educators and students, and professional development and career readiness opportunities for underrepresented populations in STEM.
