UL Enterprise Leader Talks Sustainability With World Economic Forum

Terrence Brady, CEO and president of ULRITerry Brady, president and CEO of UL Research Institutes and board chair of UL Standards & Engagement, is featured in a World Economic Forum (WEF) article focusing on how a transformed advanced manufacturing industry can boost sustainability.

Brady is among the co-authors of “A New Narrative,” a paper produced by the WEF’s advanced manufacturing industry community to help drive innovative, inclusive, and sustainable industry transformation. The narrative espoused by the paper considers ways in which advanced manufacturing solutions may support resiliency, efficiency, sustainability, people, and innovation.

Sustainability in the New Narrative is at the core of the WEF article published in September 2023. Along with two other New Narrative contributors — OC Oerlikon Executive Chairman Michael Süss and Desktop Metal CEO Ric Fulop — Brady shared his perspective in the WEF article on the development and application of sustainable technologies in advanced manufacturing.

“Building safety into these innovations while they’re still under development is key,” Brady wrote in the article. “By conducting such research now, we can incorporate safety and sustainability into every level of development, from site selection to material usage, to energy generation and storage, to processes that are safer and more sustainable.”
