Janelle Johnson
Director of the Colorado STEM Ecosystem and Professor of STEM Education, Metropolitan State University of Denver
Dr. Janelle M. Johnson previously served as a STEM equity specialist and guided teacher research on the application of STEM industry internships in the classroom across two master’s programs. She led several National Science Foundation-funded STEM bootcamps for GLOBE and consulted for the NASA Langley educational group.
She has served as principal investigator on four NSF grants to date and is co-editor of “STEM21: Equity in Teaching and Learning to Meet Global Challenges of Standards, Engagement, and Transformation” (2018). Her scholarship focuses on professional development that supports interdisciplinary and inclusive STEM teaching and learning that can simultaneously address gaps in education and the workforce.
Johnson earned her Ph.D. in teaching, learning, and sociocultural studies from the University of Arizona. She currently serves on the advisory board of the Society for Hispanic Engineers Equipando Padres and as a mentor for the American Society for Engineering Education EOP.
