Why Safety Science Matters
We aim to make innovation safer, sooner. We’re especially focused on the safety of emerging technologies, chemicals, and materials that could have a real impact on the planet and people.
The urgent problems of the 21st century, including risks associated with climate change, unprecedented digital advancements, and the chemical makeup of materials and products are affecting the health and well-being of people and the planet.
ULRI’s scientific research aims to make the very innovations developed to address these problems safer. We aspire to enable a safer energy transition, a safer digital revolution and safer product consumption through safety science — the systematic pursuit of reducing harm to people.
Safety science draws upon a combination of basic sciences, social sciences, data science and engineering to prevent harm to ourselves and the people we love.
