UL Research Institutes’ Electrochemical Safety Research Institute will contribute to key discussions driving the future of advanced battery technologies at the 6th Annual Solid-State Battery Summit and the 16th Annual Battery Safety Summit, taking place Aug. 11-13 in Chicago. The co-located events bring together global experts to explore the latest advancements in battery materials, cell engineering, manufacturing, diagnostics, safety, and commercialization.
As part of the Solid-State Battery Summit poster session on Tuesday, Aug. 11, at 5 p.m. CST, members of the Electrochemical Safety Research team will present work focused on improving the performance and understanding of emerging battery chemistries:
- Bicy Kottathodi, Ph.D., research scientist, “Toward Fast-Charging Sulfide-Based Solid-State Batteries Through Optimization of Li-Metal/Li₆PS₅Cl/Single-Crystal NMC811 Cells.”
- Saheed Lateef, Ph.D., research scientist, “Role of Plasticizer Content on Li-ion Solvation and Transport in Carborate-base Gel Polymer Composite Electrolytes.”
During the Battery Safety Summit, on Aug. 13 at 9:30 a.m. CST, Judy Jeevarajan, Ph.D., vice president and executive director, will deliver an invited talk on “Lithium-ion Battery Fire Suppression for Aircraft Cargo-Compartment Fires,” addressing a critical safety challenge associated with high-energy lithium-ion batteries transported in aviation environments.
