“An Interdisciplinary Approach to Lithium-Ion Battery Safety”
- Monday, July 20, 2026
- 2:10-2:55 p.m.
- Presenters:
- David Kalafut is a field research scientist with Chemical Insights, where he focuses on collecting and identifying chemical and elemental hazards and particulate matter in air, soil, and water. His work supports the evaluation of potential human health effects and the development of strategies to reduce community exposure to environmental hazards.
- Nicole Sanders-Abbott leads public education with the Fire Safety Research Institute, where she oversees initiatives that translate fire dynamics research, incident analysis, and first-responder insights into actionable safety education for the fire service and the public.
- Vinay Premnath is the director of safety research with the Electrochemical Safety Research group. The Safety Research team conducts cutting-edge research to advance the safety of energy storage and energy generation technologies, serving as a critical bridge toward a safer energy storage ecosystem. Their research centers on understanding the performance and safety of various energy storage technologies.
“Assessment of Inhalation Risks Associated with Off-Gassing from 3D Printing Dental Resins”
- Tuesday, July 21, 2026
- 2:15-3 p.m.
- Presenters:
- Qian Zhang, Ph.D., is a research scientist with Chemical Insights. Her research interests are centered on air quality, pollution, and human exposure. Her expertise includes particle and chemical emission characterization, aerosol measurement, toxicity assessment, and indoor air exposure estimation.
CSHEMA is the only organization focused entirely on serving EHS professionals in higher education. It was founded in 1954 as the Campus Safety Association and since 1995 has been a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization.
