At the Energy Transition Summit 2026, taking place Sept. 9-11, at Oxford University, UL Research Institutes’ Electrochemical Safety Research Institute will contribute to critical discussions on the future of safer and more sustainable energy systems.
During the “State of the Art in Energy Transition Technology” session on Wednesday, Sept. 9, Judy Jeevarajan, Ph.D., vice president and distinguished scientific advisor with ULRI, will deliver a presentation titled “Lithium-Ion, Lithium Metal, and Sodium-Ion Batteries” at 9:50 a.m. BST. The talk will examine the evolving role of advanced battery technologies in the global energy transition. Her presentation will address key opportunities and safety challenges associated with next-generation energy storage systems, emphasizing the importance of safety science, standards development, and cross-sector collaboration in enabling the responsible deployment of technologies critical to a more sustainable energy future.
Throughout the event, members of the Electrochemical Safety research team will also host a booth highlighting research advancing the safety of energy storage technologies. The Energy Transition Summit 2026 is a forum dedicated to advancing a holistic approach to safety across the energy transition. Hosted by the Fire Protection Research Foundation in partnership with NFPA, the summit brings together global leaders from research, industry, government, and standards organizations to address the complex safety challenges associated with technologies driving the energy transition.
