2024 Annual Research Symposium
Protecting Human Health and Safety in the Modern World
Discover This Year's Event
UL Research Institutes’ Second Annual Research Symposium took place from Sept. 30 to Oct. 2 at the Georgia Institute of Technology’s Hotel & Convention Center in Atlanta.
This year’s theme was Protecting Human Health and Safety in the Modern World.
And what does “modern” mean exactly?
In this context, we’re talking about the Anthropocene era: Anthropogenic chemicals — those deriving from human activities — are ubiquitous in today’s world, especially in and around our homes. They are found in materials used to construct and furnish buildings, the textiles we wear, the vehicles we ride in, and the processed foods we eat. Wildfires and natural disasters also send chemicals into the environment, impacting the health of communities and firefighters.
