Up to 200 high school students from the Houston area will visit the Toyota Center sports arena to learn about careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) at the first-ever Tech Fest Live Go Pro Day event, where the Electrochemical Safety Research Institute (ESRI) will be an exhibitor.
Founded in 2019, Tech Fest Live is a Houston-based nonprofit organization that connects youth with educational technology opportunities and organizes expos and community programs for students. ESRI has partnered with Tech Fest Live since 2024 to educate students about safe and sustainable lithium-ion battery recycling and careers in safety science.
At Go Pro Day, ESRI team members will raise awareness about lithium-ion battery recycling as part of the ESRI’s Be Nice To Your Device public safety campaign, and they will encourage students to conduct their own battery recycling drives. The team will also speak to the high schoolers about careers in safety science.
