Public Safety Announcement Urges the Public to Plan Ahead as Research Shows Only Three Minutes or Less to Escape a Home Fire
The UL Firefighter Safety Research Institute (FSRI) was able to utilize the new footage captured during the 2020 Comparison of Natural vs. Synthetic Home Furnishings experiment not only for a side-by-side fire service training video, but to also create a public safety announcement (PSA).
Focusing on the footage of the synthetic furnished room (most accurately representing today's home environment), this PSA aims to drive awareness of how little time there is to escape a home fire and urges people to plan ahead by having working smoke alarms, knowing their escape plan, and to close bedroom doors at night before bed.
