Firehouse Supplement Highlights Cardiovascular and Chemical Exposures During Training

The UL Firefighter Safety Research Institute (FSRI) along with the Illinois Fire Service Institute (IFSI) and the National Institute for Occupational Health and Safety (NIOSH) have published the new FIREHOUSE supplement Cardiovascular & Chemical Exposure Risk Considerations During Training.

These considerations based on the groups' findings are broken into three categories:

  • Training Fuel Considerations
  • PPE Cross Contamination Considerations
  • FAQs from the Fireground Study that can be applied to training

Additionally, the supplement highlights fire service leaders describing common hurdles in pursuit of behavioral changes related to these topics and shares what is ahead for future studies.
