UL Safety Index™ Discontinues Program
April 13, 2020
Our leadership in measuring the safety of living and working environments worldwide has been made possible by a rigorous commitment to data science research and innovation. Since the founding of the UL Safety Index in 2016, we’ve collaborated with a variety of interdisciplinary organizations to raise awareness—and establish data transparency—so that our partners and practitioner communities can address pressing global safety and health challenges.
As our organization determines priorities for the long term and considers how best to make an impact in today’s ever-changing world, Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. has re-evaluated the effort, progress and impact of the UL Safety Index. As Underwriters Laboratories embarks upon its next set of recommendations for data analysis and global engagement, we’ve decided to discontinue the UL Safety Index while we take the time to better anchor our organization’s core focus areas with our efforts to improve the world’s safety.
We’d like to extend our sincere thanks to all partners and collaborators. You’ve helped set a course for action and raised the awareness of safety as a public health issue. We thank you for your diligent work and care in strengthening safety science research initiatives and in advancing better safety outcomes across the globe.
